Crypto Gambling Guides — Buying, Storing & Depositing Crypto Safely
New to gambling with crypto? This is a plain-English walkthrough of buying coins, setting up a wallet, and depositing at a licensed casino for the first time — written for players in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand who’ve never used crypto before.
We write these guides from our own first-time-deposit process at each casino we review, not from exchange or wallet provider marketing material.
Depositing crypto at a casino for the first time
The process is the same regardless of which coin you use. Here’s the whole journey from having no crypto at all to placing your first deposit.
Buy crypto on an exchange
Sign up with a regulated exchange, verify your identity, and buy BTC, ETH, or USDT with a card or bank transfer.
Move it to a wallet
Send your coins from the exchange to a personal wallet you control, such as MetaMask or a hardware wallet.
Copy the casino’s deposit address
In the casino cashier, select crypto as your deposit method and copy the wallet address or QR code shown.
Send & confirm
Send the exact coin on the exact network shown, then wait for network confirmations before the balance appears.

Custodial vs. non-custodial wallets
A wallet is what holds your crypto and lets you send it to a casino. There are two broad types, and the difference matters more than most guides let on.
Custodial (exchange) wallets
The exchange holds your private keys for you — simple to use, and a reasonable starting point for a small first deposit. The trade-off is that you’re trusting the exchange’s own security, and you can’t send funds if their platform is down.
Non-custodial wallets
Apps like MetaMask, Trust Wallet, or a hardware wallet like Ledger give you sole control of your private keys. Nobody else can freeze or access the funds, but that also means there’s no one to call if you lose your recovery phrase — back it up offline and never share it.
Most players buy on an exchange, transfer a set amount to a non-custodial wallet, then deposit from there. This keeps the bulk of your holdings off the exchange while giving you a clean, disposable balance for the casino deposit itself.
Staying safe when gambling with crypto
Crypto transactions can’t be reversed once sent, which makes basic security habits more important than with a card deposit you could dispute later.
Double-check the address
Copy-paste the casino’s deposit address rather than typing it, and verify the first and last few characters match before sending.
Confirm the network
Sending on the wrong network (e.g. a token via the wrong chain) can mean permanent loss of funds. The casino’s cashier will state which network to use.
Only use licensed casinos
A licence from the UKGC, MGA, or Curaçao Gaming Control Board is the baseline check before sending any crypto to a casino cashier.
Never share your seed phrase
No legitimate casino, exchange, or support agent will ever ask for your wallet’s recovery phrase. Anyone who does is attempting a scam.
Watch for phishing links
Always navigate to a casino directly rather than clicking links from unsolicited emails or social media messages offering crypto bonuses.
Start with a small deposit
A small first deposit lets you confirm the whole process works — address, network, confirmation time — before committing a larger amount.
